Abstract:
The CLIMEX model takes explicit account of the areas where S. frugiperda can overwinter, and where it can expand its range during favourable (warmer) seasons. Where the Ecoclimatic Index is positive, S. frugiperda can overwinter. Where the EI is zero, but the weekly Growth Index (GIW) is positive, there is potential for S. frigiperda to expand its range temporarily. The model also takes spatially-explicit account of the effects of irrigation.
