I am a research ecologist with the USDA Forest Service, Southern Research Station, Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center. With respect to pest risk modeling, I have focused especially on patterns of introduction and spread of invasive alien forest insects and diseases. In particular, much of my recent research has focused on representing human-mediated dispersal pathways in risk models, including the spread of forest pests via camper travel and firewood transport. Most of my work is national, continental, or even global in scope, and I collaborate regularly with other IPRRG members, particularly Denys Yemshanov from the Canadian Forest Service. With Denys and others, I have co-written several articles about the characterization and management of uncertainty in pest risk models and risk-related decision-making. I have been a member of IPRRG since its inception, and I currently serve as the group's Communications Officer.
